Assassin's Creed II is the sequel to one of the best games ever. The first Assasin's Creed was arguably the game of its year, and it set a new standard in terms of gameplay and graphics. This sequel brings lots of changes, but the core of the game remains unchanged.
I will not get into the story line in detail, because playing this game is such a great experience and I don't want to spoil anything for you. All I am saying is that you still play an assassin who needs to solve some mysteries and kill some people to avenge the death of his father and brothers. The game takes place in Italy during the 15th century. You get to roam around some cities in Italy. Maps are very detailed and complete and there are some cameo appearances by some well-known people of the time.
The game has added a few new mission types to those that were available in the first game. This is a welcome addition, since the first game was too repetitive and one would get tired and bored after a while. After all, the game was all about going from A to B, killing someone and then repeating. This time around, the game plays a little smoother, but it still feels too repetitive.
The fight engine has seen a few changes. The most interesting one is that you can take your enemy's weapons and use them against them. However, when you are fighting several enemies, they will just take turns to fight you, which is a little too convenient.
Assassin's Creed II is a better game, with slightly better graphics, some new additions and changes and a very long single player campaign. If you are a patient gamer, you will love it.
